Man Thinking
as the curious will try
and cup raindrops in the palm
a hand must come out
and explain the mind’s labor ―
a fine art.

Re. Man Thinking
The Backwards of the Upside-Down. What a lovely depiction of it ♡
Somedays I wonder what it would be like if we could see as our eyes truly perceive- before the signal is flipped and routed through most of our brain. Vision is in the very back of the head- part of the occipital lobe- and in order to get there the signal must pass through practically every other major lobe. As it travels we decode and recode each signal bit so the end result is a complete picture that is comprised of: what we actually saw, what we think we should have seen, and what we wanted to see...

Major trigonometry being done at a constant rate too, measuring angles and distance all in the blink of an eye unthinking. I read the most interesting article a few years ago on the study of “inattentional blindness” This is what really got me: “In the investigation, 24 radiologists were asked to examine scans of patients’ lungs and search for nodules which were perhaps indicative of pathology (namely, carcinoma). They examined five scans with an average of ten nodules each, and on the last scan, an image of a gorilla, 48 times larger than the included nodules also appeared on the lung surface. Despite its obvious presence, the great majority (83%) of radiologists tested did not report seeing the gorilla.” From the publication titled, Gorilla in Their Midst, Science 2.0. The amazing eye; its all so interesting. Thank you, Maenad. I truly appreciate your interest, and your study of neuroscience. I think the future looks awesome from that perspective. :)

I'm so glad that DUP fixed their message system! I never saw these replies from you! Thank you dear heart♡ This reminds me- I just went over a follow up study very similar to to this kind of phenomena - what happens when others report seeing something that is contrary to reality - the original studies were done in the 60's by a Dr. Solomon Asch and the results show that the majority with go along with reported group reality - only a minority will stick to the facts against a group opinion. The follow up studies to this done in 2005 and 2011 (if I remember correctly) show what happens internally in this process as they re-performed the Asch experiments with the participants in MRI machines. There is a physical cost internally to going against group opinions. So quantum mechanics must be fought mentally as it springs from our mentality and the larger the bubble of reality that we create - no matter true or false- the greater the cost of an individual to fight against it! Thank you too for the wonderful thoughts and poems♡ I truly enjoy speaking with you!

I've reading listed this because I'm such a sucker for these little short pieces that make you stop, and think, and ask questions.. and I like it because I read this yesterday and it's had me thinking about it into today, and that, in my honest opinion is the mark of a good write. I am absolutely fascinated by hands. To be specific, male hands. To be even more specific, older man's hands... the thought of them being upturned to receive raindrops is as glorious in it's gentle metaphor as it is intriguing. All of this is beautiful, the magic of receiving and questioning why.
If I could offer one small constructive thing, I'm wondering if the last line should be on it's own. I truly believe it would have that little bit more of an impact if this was a singular final thought.
Gorgeous stuff, Miss. Thank you for the read.

Thank you so much, MIssy. I love hearing from you and your thoughts on poetry. Thank you for sharing that with me and thank you the RL add. I'm going to put a hyphen there and see if that reads better ― anytime I get help, I appreciate it. :)
