Image for the poem aiseki  (sorrow)

aiseki  (sorrow)

felt her tremble as I held her
strange that I should be her lover
autumn leaves have turned to umber
closed her eyes but not to slumber

barren hands caress her tender
let the evening air suspend her
timeless butterfly collector
shadows in my eyes reflect her

sorrow whispers at the window
restless sparrows make the wind blow
a heart is full  –  a heart is fallow
melting like a yellow candle

moon at bay and sun beyonder
tears of anguish fall asunder
lonely kisses linger after
said she loved me as I left her…
