Pursuit of happiness

Six possibilities of life I choose U  
Weary of the ignorant games
And acts of pettiness  
The association of countless fools
And cynical critics  
Life is misbehaving
I have no patience for it
Cognac absorbing the ice
Coltrane keeping me company
Memories streaming through my mind like broadband cable
There is an excitement in your conversation
But it remains composed
We’ve really haven’t spoken before
Somehow today U got my attention
U speak of trust
Love & lasting peace
Convincing me about the happiness
I long to possess
Loved ones that I’ve neglected for years
Calls for my affection
The few that linger
Needs my presence so much
However, I no longer have the wisdom
Nor the strength & desire
