Shine

Shine

with Grammas kind hand on my skinned knee
we would swing ourselves into laughter
our rock in sweet rhythm of her lilting voice
there were never apologies to make there
no monsters to creep through my mind
her song was my shield and we would swing
her kind hand resting on my skinned knee
her lilting voice a pendulum lullaby of happy times

times, they do get dark these weary days
and i suffer loneliness from self destruction
my monsters do not bother to creep at all
but run full speed behind exhausted eyes

but i am no connoisseur of bitter fruits
for i knew days wrapped in purities blanket
remembering the breeze on a summers day
i can still feel the warmth of Grammas touch
her kind hand resting gentle on my skinned knee
her lilting voice guiding the rock of our swing
and her smile curls mine back into a happy one
