There is No God
This phrase does not haunt me
Rather, it liberates me
It frusterates me.

Darwin.... and yet what they have learned, at the culmination of their life,is something that makes crystal clear sense to me, unlike almost anything I've learned, and it is the simple truth, that the middle eastern (Islam,Judiasm, Christianity) idea/ideal of god is so illogical, fantastical, impossible, and depressing in it's reality, that not only is it unbeliveably unlikely, we should be greatful of how unlikely the reality of the new or old testament/ Quran/Torah truly is.
I am often left w/out words at the sheer wonderment that the universe in all it's true glory holds, w/out this pious, angry,stupid and vengful creator, who, in his existance proves his insignificance.
For wouldn't there be things outside of him? what created him?
Juvinile thoughts, but still, I've found noone who believes in a creator who can truly argue against this, and the many other, argumentative points on their beliefs. Nothing more than a simple "I pray for you", in one way or another.
But finally... if there is a god, I feel very badly for it, for it must have a mundane existance beyond my comprehension, to have to watch billions of creatures per trillions of planets fuck, and decide wether they deserve to go to hell if they committed sodomy.
As short minded as that statement was, at the end of the day, the bible condemns what it condemns, and , if you truly believe any bible,quran,torah and so on, you must believe the writing as the word of god deciphered, or as human writings. And if you believe that it is the writings of simply man, then where does your faith begin?
Not understanding something is not a reason to find god.

I think it's a silly thing to assume that I would think I know the answer to that kind of question. It's a lot like "what is the meaning of life"
We are conscious of our presence, and that's something that we are learning to cope w/, I think it's not a matter of it happened so humans can do good, or for some goal. I think the important question is how did it happen and why is there something instead of nothing. It's a head spinning question. And I wouldn't claim to know the answer, but part of my poem/rant was that belief in god doesn't anwser that question either. It puts human curiosity as the motivation for a need to know why we exist. and like I said earlier, if god's explanation is true, then it doesn't answer why heaven exists anymore that why the universe exists, and it would also be a very vain reason for billions and billions of life breeding planets to exist.

"...so why does that plain exist?" I suppose would be my question to a believer. But that question is just as vain and pointless.

I think a lot of what you're saying right here is just a generic atheistic argument. I definitely would identify myself as agnostic because I personally believe that it is impossible for any human being to definitively say that there is or is not a god. Logic may define a certain opinion, but never a fact in the particular situation pertaining to out existence's origins. The fact of the matter is that I see Jesus as one of, if not, THE BEST literary characters of all time. His story, whether true or untrue, has moved so many people in history. He IS the most influential person ever, whether you like it or not. That being said, I think that the message that Jesus brings is VERY metaphorical and not meant at all to be taken literally (as I believe with most of the Bible). The problem arises when simple minded people read the book and cannot connect to the deeper meanings. Such deeper meanings could drive us towards healthier and happier lifestyles than the current "fast pace life" attitude. They literally believe in heaven and (sometimes) hell, and only believe out of fear and because they are told firmly to believe by those they trust the most. As you are talking about "the next plain" I will just affirm I don't believe in life after this. I think we have one shot, and then its back to the eternal void. It's scary (I went to therapy for a while just to cope with this one thought (I'm only 17)) but I think it makes the most sense. It makes even more sense if people stopped taking the Bible literally, and applied it to everyday life. I don't know much about the parts of the condemning parts of the Bible (I attend a more liberal Catholic Church, so they don't do that stuff :P ) but I can only attribute those things to the authors and the times they lived in. If there is a God, I could only see him as a creator. Making new things is always fun, but like you said, his existence would probably be pretty boring. That's what I also went to therapy about: If we live forever, won't I be bored and not enjoy myself. We only have one life. Don't spend it arguing over beliefs, just live, laugh, and love. That's what Jesus would do.

That was part of my point.It is an common argument to make, but because of that reason I genuinly wonder why people want to believe in something so unlikely.
and I think you'd find that Jesus isn't the biggest influence in the WORLD. Western culture, definetly, certainly europe. But large parts of china, japan, and the middle east, have continued their existance well w/out the influence of Christ.
But I do agree he is a mjor influence to people, no matter what the truth was about him. I don't have a problem w/ Jesus, I think having people to look up to and inspire and find solice in is a good thing, and Jesus fills that roll well. What I am not cool w/ is people who feel the need to be blinded from reality by their faith. It's detrimental to our species
