Sanctuary

Shut the door
Lock out humanity
Do not disturb
This is sanctuary

Outside the world is crumbling
In here the walls stand strong
Beyond this boundary is hate and crime
Within, those words do not belong

Rage is right beneath me
Pain, the next room over
Irritation just wants to play
My patience drops lower

I blare the music
Block out everything I can
The dead bolt flies off the door
This wasn’t part of the plan

They invade all at once
My safe haven destroyed
No point in fighting now
Anxiety fills the void

I run to the corner
Soon come the tears
I close my eyes
Everything disappears  

Again I have my sanctuary
The nice place inside my mind
This boundary is even stronger
And again the walls will bind
