Unstuck

I’ve been stuck in a rut
of my own creation
On the path to discover
bliss & elation
Short-circuiting the process
via complaining
When things don’t go my way,
hope is waning

To get unstuck,
what do I have to do?
How do I run to the next base,
turning “grow” to “grew”?
Is life always this hard,
or is it all in my head?
What motivates me in the morn
to quit my bed?

I been through fads,
I followed false leaders
I’ve been a leecher
but rarely a seeder
To find motivation
then to get results
Is my life-long quest,
without joining a cult

Paused and puzzled,
scratching my skull
Looking for answers
beyond self-help bull
Don’t want a façade
of guru wisdom
Nor continue to be
victim of the system

Fight with my back
to oh yonder river
Keep on going
without ruining my liver
Time’s a friend
or a sworn opponent
To be made in the shade
takes a million moments

Thor, give me patience,
this agnostic man
Help me shovel shit when I have to,
according to plan
To make it without breaking out,
that’s my intention
Whether it’s a time-worn form
or a novel invention

Clearly victory
is for those who battle & wait
Grab transformative chances
before it’s too late
I stand in this slice of time,
poised to claim victory
Avoiding the deceptive
or goddamned slippery

One small step      
on the path to success
One small whisper
in my ear before bed
One clear line-of-sight
before the arrow flies
One apparent trajectory
before my own Celebration of Life
