Smoke
The smoke that surrounds our relationship,
Creates a challenge to trust our bond.
I no longer see you
But can make out a silhouette of what used to be
We were fine before they knew about us
The lucidity compromised
From salacious situations
insensitive interactions,
I lost you to a breach I never saw coming.
I let down my guard
Believing you could never hurt me
Because love should've kept you honest.
I'm left to question if any of it was real.
Perhaps I was the current piece in your game of Tetris
Fitting in a space to make room for the next piece.
You are embedded in me
memories pressed into my skin
promises imprinted in my heart
Although the alarm has sounded
Your time should be up
I remain enthralled by the encounters we've shared
Transfixed by the possibilities of what could be
Hoping that once the smoke dissipates,
I'll be able to see you again.
Creates a challenge to trust our bond.
I no longer see you
But can make out a silhouette of what used to be
We were fine before they knew about us
The lucidity compromised
From salacious situations
insensitive interactions,
I lost you to a breach I never saw coming.
