Our Love Book

Our love book is now burned with everything
Maybe it was never love
I remember the day you gave me my copy
I remember instantly giving it right back to you
Because I had been holding it forever
Waiting on the perfect time to give you the gift
Our book had few pages filled with many more to go
But soon after our book was left on the shelf to collect dust
So soon was our book just a part of your collection
I guess the only difference was I never let my copy collect dust
I would read the pages by myself
I would read the pages to you
You would sometimes get your copy to read along
We would laugh
We would smile
We would reminisce on the times where this book was everything
We talked about finishing the book
Every so often in fact we talked about it
It felt real
It felt at arm’s reach
6 years had passed when our book was completely destroyed
6 years.
I know I can only blame myself but the pain I’ve endured
I mean, why did I believe our book meant anything?
Of course you didn’t do anything
It wasn’t those nights you called to tell me how badly you wanted to finish
No it was those days our book was the only comfort you had
No it wasn’t even those times our book was all you had
I played myself
Just eagerly waiting to finish the book I had so dearly to me heart
The book I cherished above them all
The book I wouldn’t let anyone destroy
No one came before our book.
For me that is.
But it was that day, where we sitting planning to finally finish
That’s when I knew
That’s when it fucking hit me
You were already starting a new book.
But this book was just so exciting that you couldn’t finish ours.
I hope that book is the best book for you
I hope that book will bring you the upmost joy
I know that book has a little more excitement.
It’s like you already read the last page so you have to finish huh?
Our book was my everything but thank you
