level playing ground, we're sparring joyfully, you and me
you make your hands into a potato and I guess it is a poop
No! Potato! you shriek
You played a big lizard in our childhood games
but always wanted to be a princess in school plays
Sometimes it's a back and fourth about who is more PC
and how many "women in color"s or "incarcerated person"s we can cram into a sentence....
but for all that, you make me better
Level playing ground, my heart thuds for you
like a sister you appeared
ground yourself into my blood
taught me how to cook though we are the same age
veggie pot pie lemon marinated fish, baked apples, and pizza,
You wandered, tarried, came right back again
you were boy crazy then girl crazy, then just cool crazy, and I was just me
but you came back and you saw me
and we're back here now, emerging adults in DC,
always family
