In My Daughters Eyes
In my daughters eyes I see everything pure
In my daughters eyes I see hope
In my daughters eyes I see love
In my daughters eyes I see me
If I could shield you from the cruelties of this world
To keep you innocent and pure
You know for you I would
And with everything in me I will protect you
But, there will come a day when you will have to walk your own walk
And learn from your own mistakes
But, I will give you all the arsenals that I have within me
To help you along the way so you can learn how to fight your own battles
With me being in your corner every step of the way
I been through something’s so that when the day comes
I can bestow my wisdom upon you
Be careful who you give your heart to
And make them prove worthy of your love
Prove its love and not lust and always stay alert
Side stepping the traps the devil will place in line
Know that you will have friends that will betray you
And out of ten friends there might be only two that’s true blue
When you find that really good friend that keeps your secrets
And has your back you hold and treasure that one dear
Be it male or female
For true friends are really hard to find
Focus on School let that be your priority
So you can be that pediatric doctor you want to be
Always be a leader and never a follower
You set the pace and always walk with grace
Remember you’re please and thank you’s
Because you were brought up with manners
Carry yourself like a lady at all times
And never let them see you slippin
I pray you laugh often and hurt less
Remember you have so much strength you just have to tap into it
Always remember that no man defines you
In order to receive love
You must first love your self
So you walk with your head held high with confidence
And let no one break your stride
And if by chance you stumble and fall
Baby girl, brush yourself off and get back up again

Absolutely stellar expression of love and pride! If I could have scraped all these beautiful words together as eloquently as you have done, I would definitely have gifted them to my daughter. It doesn't get any easier when they've grown up and move out...You're just not there to guard anymore and hope that you've done a good enough job of preparing them. This is, again, beautiful! :)

Thank you hun..... It will be a tough transition for me when she goes off to college but yes I just have to pray I have installed enough to sustain her and she will be strong enough to fly on her own....
