Just Because

just because you are beautiful they seek to make you ugly
you are special and unique and to them its incomprehensible  
it maddens them knowing that you are better than they are
 
just because you are loved they wish to make others hate you
a loving heart radiating hugs and kisses to those in need
gifted with many talents and a flair for making people happy
 
it matters not who you love, what matters is that you love
who are they to tell you that loving someone is wrong
who are they to tell you who and what you are or should be
 
always afraid to be yourself, your gorgeous sovereign self
religious communities deem you demonic, abominations
yet your character and deeds outshine them every single day
 
they call you the black sheep, a dark secret something not of them
hide him/her don’t bring shame on our families & communities
when it’s them & the cowardice within that we should be ashamed of
 
there is no fear in me of you because you have never shown me fear
I accept and respect you because you accept and respect me
I need not question your being, I need no explanation of who you are
 
just because you trusted & told me who you are, I know who you are
you are every one of us, all peoples, all cultures & ethnicity, all families
we are birth in togetherness, we grow learning to love, we must live  
together peacefully
 
just because you represent the best of humanity, they took you away
away from your love ones, families, friends, and your communities
what cruel people they are, such hatred has no place in our world  
 
just because I love, respect and care for you I write this for poem for you
I wrote this poem for you because if there ever was a need for this poem
the need has been met and the poem has been written "Just Because"
