Untethered

Charismatic and engaging,
I was already often lost in his carefree smile..
But more now that I am lost in the wonder of his creative hands,
In the caged hopes that glimmer through those tranquil grey orbs.

See how his strong fingers trail gently over the bindings that he works,
How the noble creases in his digits are scored from years of warring and forcing thick parchment into surrender.

My heart palpitates with the punches of his awl, and as he embosses his designs upon the cover, so I make designs of my own - in dreams, amongst the stars.

As silken thread, I weave through the loops of existence, struggling to collect those things to me that are worth saving, and yet prematurely I find myself cut off, untethered from he that I would place above all others ..

For as I am lost in the wonder of him, he is lost in another.

And thus .. I blink away his smile ..
