BALLOONS AND LOTUS FLOWERS
(a sonnet)
A white balloon set free at Libra’s rise
Takes shape of lotus flower in dousing sun
Her form in coming stars of nightling skies
Takes shape of love that with these sights begun
In whispered tales told in a fiery light
That beckons all to follow her a’ways
In spinning colors’ touch for our delight
Balloon unfolds in starlit spectral phrase
How does my soul contain her lyric verse
For as she fills the space within my heart
Expanding me in her night’s spell disperse
More real though less remains as lines impart
My heart transfixed I watch her verses bloom
A lotus flower borne in a white balloon
