Realization

Our words, held captive as we try to find strength
to annunciate full sentences.
Limbs heavy, eyes threatened by a peaceful slumber.
Bodies demanding sleep, and who are we to not abide?
Your arms wrapped tightly around me, as you lay by my side.
As you nuzzle into my neck and press into me I find comfort in your skin.
It takes no time to realize, that this is paradise I’m in.
Where you and I exist in a world,
with no outsiders.
Just you and I, no interruptions where we reside.
As I think to myself, this is what it means to be a peace.
Before I know it, the words, “Thank you for loving me.” Escape my lips
As I drift off into a deep sleep…
