had a terrible dream
about how her parents
used to corner her
yell at her together
(she was so little)
when she did something wrong
the terrible things they would
say to her

her dad called her today
out of the blue
telling her what to do,
not offering any help
mind you, nor did she
ask for any
like he still has that kind of
authority in her life

she could hear the frustration
disappointment,
