Prowl to Prey (1st part)

Can't help myself but look at you with eyes from a distant past...
Green ocean, pine breeze...
ah..! that morning mist...
I didn't say anything to you,
but it did frighten me..
those sounds...
the sounds of those lost souls...
every night louder,
every dawn daunting...
I shouldn't fear...
for I am the prowler...
yet...there it is...
That dreadful fear...
we couldn't wait for shelter...
It wasn't for dread of the sun...
but guilt of what we've done...
You, stalking and chasing,
death game at its finest..me, waiting for that final stroke...
this wasn't survival...
it was fun and joy,
lust and greed...
evil and cruelty ...
a no needed cruelty.
then...
you saw her...
I saw you...
Mane of red sunshine,
so beautiful...
Then everything changed....
I couldn't let her go,
It was personal.....
Now here we are
centuries apart...
I knew this day would come,
yet I can't fathom what to do,
those dark eyes,
so pretty...yet terrifying.
windows to the soul...
you don't possess one
This is a vastly different forest,
With trees of concrete and steel,
cars and planes
trains, boats with no sails...
your stare tells me
you don't care...
Should I do the same?
it is here and now...
let's settle it, let's end this...
but, how come
you still have two arms...
immortals grow no limbs,
I swear...I cut it clean.
it must be this new technology
yes, you trickster flying rat...
have that done and fixed...
My thoughts and hopes were too quick.
They've vanished now
my shoulders sink with the thought...
I still feel the same fears of the past...
the voices,
the screams...the mist...
I saw you notice her...
but i couldn't let her go,
far too young..
She was the harmony...
she was...
she is...!!!
what I always want to be...
free....

To be continue...
