Even Though You're Gone
My poetry isn't something I usually share,
But today I'm going to just to show how much I care.
This person has been there for me even before I was born,
That view hasn't changed even though now your gone.
I'm expressing these feelings early, there's just so much to say, Mother's Day isn't that far away.
Momma I love you more than words can express,
I tell this to your grave and pictures often I confess.
I talk to you early mornings and at night after I pray,
I talk to you when things are hard just to hear you say it'll all be okay.
Momma if Heaven had visiting hours I promise I would be there every Sunday after church,
Even though now you're gone that doesn't change you're worth.
I have a son now with so many grandmothers it's hard to make sure he keeps it straight,
But when I tell him about you it turns into a discussion about God and Faith.
Even though you're gone your helping me teach him about religion,
Because you not being here was God's decision.
I explain to him you were so great God wanted you home with him, And yes after he took you, our family's light, things did get a little dim.
But our love for you still burns bright, even through the darkest hours that fell,
Of course the family still misses you, I can tell.
Even though you're not here, you're not gone, definitely never forgotten,
I take you with me everywhere and you the reason my son spoiled rotten.
Even with us only being together for seven years you taught me how to be a good mother,
You taught me right from wrong, how to be a good person, mom, wife, lover.
You were inspiring in many things and great at everything I seen, You raised me as a princess so one day your presence would turn me into a Queen.
Even though your not here, my feelings for you never did waiver,
If Heaven had visiting hours me and my son would be there so he too could absorb your behavior!
