"I suppose I could lay it out in medical terms but to save you the time, let just go with lost and lacking in efficiency."
How long have you been like this?
"Long enough to know it's the way things intend to stay. I don't fight it anymore. There's no point. I sort of just accept it and glide along, like some kind of reformed animal."

Fin - the end - sounds initially about giving up but there is a big difference between giving up and giving in. It is ok to give in if that's a deliberate decision take in full knowledge of the consequenses and future lifestyle - so I read this poem as a positive poem as I personally relate to being a 'reformed animal :-)
