shadow dance

light filters through the blinds
lit candles create dancing flames,
casting shadows around the room
across the floor

she watches as they twist
and turn like lovers
open flames of desire
caresses of soft light
intertwining and letting go
moving with the energy of space

delicate breezes play
teasing the flames into exotic rhythms
she moves, in
a mesmerizing dance
of light versus shadow

soft glow
scents of rose and lavender
gently perfume
the atmosphere

like stars they glitter and shine
brightening her night
burning and eventually fading
shadows shorten
and pull back,
time slows
retracting

flames die,
enveloping the room
to black

wicks,
burning embers
of firefly light
that slowly fade
