Image for the poem Ropeless Anchor

Ropeless Anchor

happiness is momentary
without you it sails, never stays
the crests and troughs of emotion
have ceased to peak and spike
floating along without a connection
no port in sight
unable to anchor
hopeless ropeless
incapable of imagining refuge

torments steal my wind
my wonder
where is my line?
why all the thunder?
all the flashes
memories, instincts past
no longer serve me
they only hold me back

waves flood over me
my vessel cracked
anguish seeping though
numb to imminent demise
the water calmly envelopes
what was once my pride
dignity shipwrecked
desire thrown out to sea
