Air Castles II: Mizpah

The LORD watch between
me and thee, when we are
absent one from another.
~ Genesis 31:49

Come, share Blackstar of anise
through the distance with me,
maybe some music and poetry;
or, perhaps sacred silence instead.
The magic of stained glass would
playfully contrast the adolescent
cartoons translated in Spanish; our
laughter would stain the hardwoods,
and the tea from between our lips too.
If our hearts should burst and elope
from a continental divide of absence,
let their direction be Love, that Love
lead them through this Lenten desert;
their thoughts be joy, that joy manifest
an oasis from their mirage’d illusion;
their intentions be pure, that purity
is garnered from a painful loneliness;
and their dreams believe in promises,
that through belief promises return
in color, as an old Polaroid that faded
in a drawer now clearly redeveloping.
