Alfred Deller Counter Tenor ( BBC 3 15 30 October 2010 )

He sang of Barbara Allen
voice clear as a lute
or glass harmonica,
tuned with cooling wine,
from Cecilia's spring,
perfect pitch and true;
calming like rare tea
drunk in shallow bowls.
the voice higher than
ambition, beyond dreaming,
he sang of Barbara Allen
