Keep Dancing
The rain pours outside.
Frightened faces watch
Through the windows.
The empty streets echo
The empty silence
Inside the glass
As families
Go silent
To watch the rain
Fall.
But perhaps the streets
Are not so empty,
For look-
There's a form in the shadows,
Blurred
By the falling rain.
She lifts her face
To the thunder,
The lightning
Flashing
In her eyes.
Slowly,
Her arms lift to the air
And she starts
To dance.
Around and around she turns,
The rain splashing
On her skin
And the lightning
Making it glow.
The people
In the windows
Watch her,
Amused,
Indignant,
And a little jealous.
But she keeps dancing,
Keeps spinning through the storm,
Her world still turning
Through the thunder
And lightning
That has stopped so many.
Just keep dancing, girl,
Keep that smile on your face.
Just keep on dancing, girl,
And you'll teach us all to live.
Frightened faces watch
Through the windows.
The empty streets echo
The empty silence
Inside the glass
As families
Go silent
To watch the rain
Fall.
But perhaps the streets
Are not so empty,
For look-
There's a form in the shadows,
Blurred
By the falling rain.
She lifts her face
To the thunder,
The lightning
Flashing
In her eyes.
Slowly,
Her arms lift to the air
And she starts
To dance.
Around and around she turns,
The rain splashing
On her skin
And the lightning
Making it glow.
The people
In the windows
Watch her,
Amused,
Indignant,
And a little jealous.
But she keeps dancing,
Keeps spinning through the storm,
Her world still turning
Through the thunder
And lightning
That has stopped so many.
Just keep dancing, girl,
Keep that smile on your face.
Just keep on dancing, girl,
And you'll teach us all to live.
