Death Dance
I remember, Ah how
I remember, How,
How your skin felt,
So warm, so soft
Yielding to my touch
Demanding of me
Wanting, wanting
More. More and more
Talk, wine and
Life. Loving. Wanting
Me. Wanting my hunger.
Feeding my hunger
Never still, always
Curious, moving.
Excited, A childlike
Gypsy, with
Grown up appetites
Dancing at the edge
Of death, teetering
Uncaring, living
Fully, completely
Still, you are so
Deathly still, cold
Gone, your echoes
Batter at me
Memories, jumbled,
Colourful, sweet
Bitter, lively.
Your life may have
Fled, but still you
Live on
In your children
And in my
Grieving heart.
I remember, How,
How your skin felt,
So warm, so soft
Yielding to my touch
Demanding of me
Wanting, wanting
More. More and more
Talk, wine and
Life. Loving. Wanting
Me. Wanting my hunger.
Feeding my hunger
Never still, always
Curious, moving.
Excited, A childlike
Gypsy, with
Grown up appetites
Dancing at the edge
Of death, teetering
Uncaring, living
Fully, completely
Still, you are so
Deathly still, cold
Gone, your echoes
Batter at me
Memories, jumbled,
Colourful, sweet
Bitter, lively.
Your life may have
Fled, but still you
Live on
In your children
And in my
Grieving heart.
