contemplation
the long stormy day
held within it
heavy rains
lashing against large pane windows,
thunder in the distance
rumbling across the heavens
for long moments,
dark clouds breaking
light shafting through in defiance
threats of tornadoes
circulating in masses of hot and cold air,
merging and shifting
in the atmospheric pressure
fleeing towards places
not far enough away to give comfort
slowly the storm drifted away,
finally caressing the sky
with clouds wispy enough
to reclaim blue
sun dipping below the dark
cloud line on the horizon
she sat on the cement
balcony, the moisture evaporating into
the cool air
her hair curling in the humidity
drops of water finding her skin
falling from the palm trees
swaying in what was left
of the wind
held within it
heavy rains
lashing against large pane windows,
thunder in the distance
rumbling across the heavens
for long moments,
dark clouds breaking
light shafting through in defiance
threats of tornadoes
circulating in masses of hot and cold air,
merging and shifting
in the atmospheric pressure
fleeing towards places
not far enough away to give comfort
slowly the storm drifted away,
finally caressing the sky
with clouds wispy enough
to reclaim blue
sun dipping below the dark
cloud line on the horizon
she sat on the cement
balcony, the moisture evaporating into
the cool air
her hair curling in the humidity
drops of water finding her skin
falling from the palm trees
swaying in what was left
of the wind
