the visitor

he
sought her out
when his life
started making sense
when things were
looking up,
he
needed to share

intertwined like roots
he
said we
were, going our own ways
to devour the water at our tips
only to find each other again
where we could sit
together
comfortable as an old chair
in perfect solitude
he
could look
her in the eye
and tell her the stories of
his
world and all that revolved
around it, how
he
needed to share

when we were so full
and needed nothing or no one
to fill a void, that
we
could languish
in the warmth of companionship

our
souls breathing
in the moments,
he
loved, when she would
interject a smile
or laughter,

till
his
desires got too strong,
leading
him elsewhere,

they always did,
she was okay with that
