I Surmise
I’m walking down them demon streets
with angel wings up high,
but all I hear are whispers
from those of whom have died.
They say it’s him testing me,
always being judged in god’s eyes.
Though my sins were always the best of me.
I’m better off falling,
I surmise.
When I feel that burning sun
piercing through that darkest night,
all those whispers turn to tears of joy –
salvation for the left behind.
Do you hear the call of the morning star?
My darkest night is at sunrise.
I’ll just keep walking down them demon streets
and live forever,
I surmise.
