Why

I woke up to you this morning
ready for what felt like war
don't know if that is what
you intended or if that's
just the way it played out

You said something that
hurt me to the core
for you know all about my
past and how I never wanted
anything close to it again

I don't know if you meant it
or if you just wanted to upset
me, but either way it worked

My heart is hurt and I don't know
how to let that go for you where
the one who was going to be
different remember you told me
I would never have to deal with
that again

I know everyone  says stuff they
don't mean when they are mad
but why that?????

Why did you have to say that
and why did you have to make
me feel the way I have all day

Do you not know that once a woman
is abused by a man that deep inside
it's always there,
it don't just go away and when you
said what you did it took me right
back to where I was 9 years ago

Why you of all people why
please just tell me that please
tell me why you would say
those words to me
all I have left to say is
why????
