Working On A Rose Garden
On an icy winter morning
I get up out of bed
Roll away from the beautiful woman
Who always keeps me fed
I'd rather stay at home though
Can't satisfy my boss
With my girl I know I'm welcome
Good Lord, my woman's soft
I head out to the pickup
That's never let me down
Then race out to the jobsite
Just outside of town
They work me like a rented mule
Be good and dirty 'fore I'm through
Well that's fine And I don't mind
Just a thing a man must do
Well I know my woman loves me
And she knows I love her too
We've been happy and sad And sometimes mad
But we always make it thru
I leave each morning cause I love her
When Lord knows I wanna stay
I said I would take care of her
And this working is the way
For me to get the things that we both need
And some we only want
Some nights we go out on the town
On really special ones we don't
No longer a boy I'm all growed up
Just doing what I have to do
Takin a little dirt now plus a lotta hard work
Makin future flowers for me and you
I get up out of bed
Roll away from the beautiful woman
Who always keeps me fed
I'd rather stay at home though
Can't satisfy my boss
With my girl I know I'm welcome
Good Lord, my woman's soft
I head out to the pickup
That's never let me down
Then race out to the jobsite
Just outside of town
They work me like a rented mule
Be good and dirty 'fore I'm through
Well that's fine And I don't mind
Just a thing a man must do
Well I know my woman loves me
And she knows I love her too
We've been happy and sad And sometimes mad
But we always make it thru
I leave each morning cause I love her
When Lord knows I wanna stay
I said I would take care of her
And this working is the way
For me to get the things that we both need
And some we only want
Some nights we go out on the town
On really special ones we don't
No longer a boy I'm all growed up
Just doing what I have to do
Takin a little dirt now plus a lotta hard work
Makin future flowers for me and you
