The lady of my dreams (Shakespearean love poem)
For you my lady I wait with patience
knowing that in time you’ll be by my side
I imagine the warmth of your presence
and all of the thoughts your eyes cannot hide
for I’ve stared deeply into them at night
through many perfect dreams of you and me
some ending in my tears and fresh daylight
when I come back to face reality
but those tears are never because of pain
they fall because I am so in love with you
you make me feel a way I can’t explain
knowing that someday these dreams will come true
so for now I smile when I’m sleepy
knowing I get to be with my lady
knowing that in time you’ll be by my side
I imagine the warmth of your presence
and all of the thoughts your eyes cannot hide
for I’ve stared deeply into them at night
through many perfect dreams of you and me
some ending in my tears and fresh daylight
when I come back to face reality
but those tears are never because of pain
they fall because I am so in love with you
you make me feel a way I can’t explain
knowing that someday these dreams will come true
so for now I smile when I’m sleepy
knowing I get to be with my lady
