Shudder
A hard shudder, no flash,
No uproar or trumpet blast.
A hard shudder as we passed,
But the spell was cast.
A shadow on the street,
A phantom of my mind,
A pity we couldn't meet,
Couldn't cross that line.
You felt nothing, I'm certain,
Gaze locked, eye to eye,
A second lost searching,
Then we passed each other by.
We went about our lives,
Not days or routines,
We went about our lives,
With no words spoke between.
But your auburn hair,
And those green eyes,
I see them vividly,
Burned in mine.
I lay here crying,
Odd I know,
But I'm not lying,
I felt your soul.
Inches separated us,
And it reached out,
I stepped on my bus,
You continued your route.
A moment so sunlit,
Paled by your shine,
I realized I was unfit,
To call you mine.
Head down and downcast,
Your hand within grasp,
With no uproar or trumpet blast,
I shuddered as you passed.
No uproar or trumpet blast.
A hard shudder as we passed,
But the spell was cast.
A shadow on the street,
A phantom of my mind,
A pity we couldn't meet,
Couldn't cross that line.
You felt nothing, I'm certain,
Gaze locked, eye to eye,
A second lost searching,
Then we passed each other by.
We went about our lives,
Not days or routines,
We went about our lives,
With no words spoke between.
But your auburn hair,
And those green eyes,
I see them vividly,
Burned in mine.
I lay here crying,
Odd I know,
But I'm not lying,
I felt your soul.
Inches separated us,
And it reached out,

A moment so sunlit,

To call you mine.
Head down and downcast,
Your hand within grasp,
With no uproar or trumpet blast,
I shuddered as you passed.
