Chasing sun

I run in the the rain for a long time
I am drenched and I am cold
Covered in muck and grime
The storm will pass so I'm told
Like bullets they rain down on me
But I don't feel them for I am numb
It doesn't let up, refusing to let me be
But the worst has yet to come
Snowstorm starts and it's hard to see
The sun plays peekaboo
Just beyond the big oak tree
Disappearing, never fully in view
I imagine the warmth on my skin
I almost feel my heart defrost
I just want to feel alive again
And get back all that was lost
I'm just a girl chasing sun
Just wanting to feel something real
My past I've tried to outrun
To cover up and failing to conceal
But I know I'll make it there
I'll bask in the sun and all it's glory
Stripping naked I'll lay bare
All my scars that tell of my story
