Romancing Death
We used to cut our wrists
With the sharp words
Of tortured souls
Back then you were a dreamer
Your visions for life shine brighter
Than the sun
And yet with every night
The life flowed from your veins
And the shimmer in your eyes
Dulled to a soft glow
And every night
You grew a little less strong
We grew a little less strong
You sought a romance I could not give
I could not give to you
Your gaze shifted elsewhere
As you stepped of the edge
of that knife
And fell deeper and deeper
Into death's icy embrace
With the sharp words
Of tortured souls
Back then you were a dreamer
Your visions for life shine brighter
Than the sun
And yet with every night
The life flowed from your veins
And the shimmer in your eyes
Dulled to a soft glow
And every night
You grew a little less strong
We grew a little less strong
You sought a romance I could not give
I could not give to you
Your gaze shifted elsewhere
As you stepped of the edge
of that knife
And fell deeper and deeper
Into death's icy embrace
