déjà vu

Time is a familiar place crossed lines can never retrace
Just like the lines I can't erase forever etched across my face
Yet still the curtain of uncertainty returns to conceal my memory
Looking back at the same reflection I am still too blind to see

Repeating the same fast-forward flashback of dualistic reps
Trying to leave tragedy behind my muddy frozen footsteps
Looking back at where I came from I see circling figure eights
No one can tell where they were born nor foretell their metaphoric fates

Predictably the more thoughts modulate, the more echoes silently recur
Replicating opaque creations of a subconscious saboteur
Haunted by a perplexing recollection with just a hint of recognition
Translucent images foreshadow this vagary of endless repetition

As it sneaks up from behind like a shadow at high noon
From an eclipse when the sky's too bright concealing a blue moon
Passing clear over my head like a ghost of the forgotten dead
And just one second later I felt a chill that quickly fled

It hid behind a glimmer of light that rekindled last midnight
Was it really there or a lost memory fading out of sight?
I cannot shake this feeling that I've seen this scenery reform
Glowing under the Aurora after a Summer Sun-spot storm

Did I dream I was awake or get caught in the spiral of time's wake
Out of control I spun in circles to evade this cold mind numbing ache
So sure that I've been there and done that ten thousand times before
Yet still I can't reach back to the past to slam shut that unlocked door
