A war
The bombs fall
Like rain in the wind
With you trying to crawl
Against this human sin
The ground quakes
As explosions rock the earth
Your nerves begin to shake
You don't know what’s coming first
Fighting for love and country
For the dreams of a nation
But does it justify this wanton brutality?
Does it justify this bloodlust compulsion?
You close your eyes shut
Hoping to go back home
In the distance you hear a thump
Where it was, who knows?
You made friends till the end
Brothers in arms
Who you swore to defend
All locked in those nationalistic charms
Now you lay there on the ground
As the bombs drop all around
The ringing in your ears the only sound
That can pass through your senses
You close your eyes shut
Hoping to go back home
In the distance you hear a thump
Where it was, who knows?
It’s been five hours
Since the last calls have been made
The smoke in the distance towers
Over the setting sun
You’re sweating profusely
Calling out for help
You feel your voice sound out loosely
Broken in the wind you feel it melt
You close your eyes shut
Hoping to go back home
In the distance you hear a thump
Where it was, who knows?
You open up your eyes
Not sure exactly where you are
All you see are lights
Too bright to be stars
Like rain in the wind
With you trying to crawl
Against this human sin
The ground quakes
As explosions rock the earth
Your nerves begin to shake
You don't know what’s coming first
Fighting for love and country
For the dreams of a nation
But does it justify this wanton brutality?
Does it justify this bloodlust compulsion?
You close your eyes shut
Hoping to go back home
In the distance you hear a thump
Where it was, who knows?
You made friends till the end
Brothers in arms
Who you swore to defend
All locked in those nationalistic charms
Now you lay there on the ground
As the bombs drop all around
