Layers
Pulling layers over layers
Twisting and bunching underneath
Mixing whiskey in for flavor
Adding a layer of warm drink
There's a tear in this old jacket
And the socks have grown a stink
But no one cares in this old racket
No one cares what no one thinks
When you're hiding from the cold
When you're roaming on the brink
Sometimes you hide just to survive
Sometimes you fall and then you sink.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hiding from myself to hide
From the part of her I let inside.
The part I adore inside my head
That wraps around me when I lie in bed.
The part that I want so bad it hurts.
The part that hurts because I love....
So I taunt people to get into fights
Becoming this asshole that nobody likes
To try to convince myself that is why
I was never wanted in return
So part of me wants to watch the world burn
And part of me wants another turn.
Twisting and bunching underneath
Mixing whiskey in for flavor
Adding a layer of warm drink
There's a tear in this old jacket
And the socks have grown a stink
But no one cares in this old racket
No one cares what no one thinks
When you're hiding from the cold
When you're roaming on the brink
Sometimes you hide just to survive
Sometimes you fall and then you sink.
