Help Me, Help You
I want so badly to scream out to her
Shake her and tell her to run
Save her from a voluntary decent into hell
Be the savior that I lacked
But I can't
I can't rescue her from the fire that will reduce her hope and faith to a terrible heap of heartache and desolation
I can't even feel remorse for the agony that will wrack her body
Because I haven't healed my own soul
Ripped apart at the seams while wild oats were sown
So I will do what everyone else did as I burned
Sit on the bucket and watch
And pray that a phoenix rises from the ashes
Shake her and tell her to run
Save her from a voluntary decent into hell
Be the savior that I lacked
But I can't
I can't rescue her from the fire that will reduce her hope and faith to a terrible heap of heartache and desolation
I can't even feel remorse for the agony that will wrack her body
Because I haven't healed my own soul
Ripped apart at the seams while wild oats were sown
So I will do what everyone else did as I burned
Sit on the bucket and watch
And pray that a phoenix rises from the ashes
