Sibling rivalry
When she giggles her sunshine curls bounce
She sings a little song as she walks by
Her dress in ruffles
Bow tied perfectly
She smiled gratefully to her elders as they pass
Then sneaks swiftly up the stairs
Tiptoeing to the last door in the hall
Nine year old hands turn the handle
Opening with a creek
Mommy is down stairs
The baby is unguarded
She peeks over the crib
Seeing bright blue eyes
“Hi Little sister”
She says with much despise
Blue eyes glimmer
Looking up at big sister
Oblivious to the odium contained
Nine year old hands can do havoc
With a sharpened knife
She sings a little song as she walks by
Her dress in ruffles
Bow tied perfectly
She smiled gratefully to her elders as they pass
Then sneaks swiftly up the stairs
Tiptoeing to the last door in the hall
Nine year old hands turn the handle
Opening with a creek
Mommy is down stairs
The baby is unguarded
She peeks over the crib
Seeing bright blue eyes
“Hi Little sister”
She says with much despise
Blue eyes glimmer
Looking up at big sister
Oblivious to the odium contained
Nine year old hands can do havoc
With a sharpened knife
