Darkness

Darkness
Oddly enough
all we're fighting
are our imaginations
Our eyes lack detail
So images in
Our mind are created

As a child
One
learns
to
fear
the dark

To check for monsters
In the closet
Under the bed
In the sheets

Time moves on
and the darkness
No longer becomes the enemy
It becomes a friend
and engulfs us

That is because the illusion of light
being our ally
Is wrong
The darkness prevails
and
