Don't Say It
As we lay here
basking in the magic
of the moment
As the wind
blows,
caressing
your hair
As the waves lap,
fawning over
the shore
As the moonlight
makes love
to
your skin
As all the elements
show up in their
Sunday best
And the stars
bear witness
from the night sky
Don't you say it
Don't you dare
'Cause my heart will stop
My voice will break
And the air will turn
to cyanide
in my lungs
For an
undetectable
infinitesimal
fraction
of a second
And then I'll exhale
the lie
"I love you too"
Then close my eyes
And pull you closer to me
As my sin obliterates
the sanctity
of this
paradise
basking in the magic
of the moment
As the wind
blows,
caressing
your hair
As the waves lap,
fawning over
the shore
As the moonlight
makes love
to
your skin
As all the elements
show up in their
Sunday best
And the stars
bear witness
from the night sky
Don't you say it
Don't you dare
'Cause my heart will stop
My voice will break
And the air will turn
to cyanide
in my lungs
For an
undetectable
infinitesimal
fraction
of a second
And then I'll exhale
the lie
"I love you too"
Then close my eyes
And pull you closer to me
As my sin obliterates
the sanctity
of this
paradise
