I wonder
If the words in those old songs are enough
To make you open the windows
Light a joint
Feel that 5 a.m. breeze
And call in sick to work
…
As the time zone gets louder
Does your heart beat nervously?
I wonder
If the beats in those old songs are enough
To make you push on the pedal harder
To feel those freeway winds tangle your hair
Unwind your mind
As you drive to nowhere at 80 miles per hour
Laughing and crying
…
As the clouds being to sob before the all-out thunderous release
Do they pull on your heart’s strings?
I wonder
If the silence is enough
To make you love me even more
To drag you back to my front door
That you ripped your body away from in early August
I wonder
If my words are enough
To make you feel the alchemy of emotion my brain concocts
During those late night synaptic labs
…
I wonder
Am I too much or not enough?
If the words in those old songs are enough
To make you open the windows
Light a joint
Feel that 5 a.m. breeze
And call in sick to work
…
As the time zone gets louder
Does your heart beat nervously?
I wonder
If the beats in those old songs are enough
To make you push on the pedal harder
To feel those freeway winds tangle your hair
Unwind your mind
As you drive to nowhere at 80 miles per hour
Laughing and crying

As the clouds being to sob before the all-out thunderous release
Do they pull on your heart’s strings?
I wonder
If the silence is enough
To make you love me even more
To drag you back to my front door
That you ripped your body away from in early August
I wonder
If my words are enough
To make you feel the alchemy of emotion my brain concocts
During those late night synaptic labs

I wonder
Am I too much or not enough?
