The Gambler
Excitement tingles in the dice here in my fist
Another winning streak sings like the sirens sing
Another roll that cannot possibly go wrong
It all hinges on the way these dice will dance and spin
Can’t look Lady Luck straight in the eye
For fear of losing all I’ve won so far
I only glance to see that she’s still right here with me
Dressed up tonight as a brunette that the blind could see
I’ll ride this winning streak because this luck will never wane
I’ll take the chips I’ve won and bet them on the game
I never fear the way the dice will fall
They fall for me
Tonight I have it all
That’s how it seems to me
That’s how it looks inside my eyes
That’s how blinded luck has made me be
Until I lose it all I will not see
Another night gone by and wasted money spent
It seems that Lady Luck is just a tramp who steals your rent
Another dream that faded fast before my eyes
Another dream that’s dashed and crushed, never hearing all my cries
What have I learned?
Not a single thing
I’ll be back when Lady Luck begins to sing
I’ll bet my life and wedding ring
That’s how it goes
That’s how it is
What have I learned with all the play out in the night?
That I am blind without the second sight
I’ll never learn the things I need
I’ll always be the thing that I’ve turned out to be
That’s how it seems to me
That’s how it looks inside my eyes
That’s how blinded luck has made me be
Until I’ve lost it all I’ll never ever see
