Empty Words
There’s a stumbling block within my mind
Can’t find the right words now
Or sometimes words of any kind
Like a painter who is slowly going blind
And so I sift through all the words within my head
And using touch I try to find the ones that I like the best
I’m just a madman on a madman’s quest
It drives me crazy but the madman turns his eyes up and he’s dead
The ones who had a little talent once before
They’re the ones who always feel it even more
Watching pieces fall away from clutching hands down to the floor
They feel the loss so deep it tears them to the core
The bells of loss they toll for me
They ring so clearly and I weep
A knife so deep inside of me
This music ringing in my head for only me to keep
Another death along the path so clearly worn
By those who went this way before me once before
I’ve lost my dearest friend
I feel it deeply and I feel it all the more
An empty vessel
An empty mind
No words to write
The painter’s blind
