ANZAC Day

The ANZACs fought - they were brave
Fully aware that in this way you dig your own grave
The sounds of the deafening guns all night,
You had a choice: die or fight.
Life in the trenches was cruel and unfair,
As your friends die around you, you’re filled with
despair.
The more it endured, the more bodies did lay,
Just left there to slowly decay.
Until a temporary truce they did call,
To let both sides bury those who did fall.
This war went on for four long years
At its end many families cried bitter tears.
Now every year on April 25th,
We will remember them.
