The Mulatto Girl
Dusky skin and the voodoo of the eye,
Melancholy of thy love
Reflected in the sky.
Heaving down the breasts-
Cascade of the river brown flows.
My mulatto girl, let nothing remain hidden
beneath the strings of your clothes.
Speak to me in the language unknown
Tender whispers, the quivering of your tone.
Look me in the eye:
The valerian gaze of a gazelle.
Burn me with the provoking curves
The rage of an undying and unsatisfied
act of love.
Trapped thee me, a slave of lust
In the chasm of thy Elmina castle,
With chains browned by rust.
For years that went and years to come
Mulatto Girl, for your love, I have become-
Numbed of my senses and maimed by my thoughts,
Driven by my passion, for someone long lost….
Melancholy of thy love
Reflected in the sky.
Heaving down the breasts-
Cascade of the river brown flows.
My mulatto girl, let nothing remain hidden
beneath the strings of your clothes.
Speak to me in the language unknown
Tender whispers, the quivering of your tone.
Look me in the eye:
The valerian gaze of a gazelle.
Burn me with the provoking curves
The rage of an undying and unsatisfied
act of love.
Trapped thee me, a slave of lust
In the chasm of thy Elmina castle,
With chains browned by rust.
For years that went and years to come
Mulatto Girl, for your love, I have become-
Numbed of my senses and maimed by my thoughts,
Driven by my passion, for someone long lost….
