Soulties

I loved you.
With every moment and kiss shared the fibres of my being tangled with yours…forming a bond stronger than anything in the world.
Your kisses left me drunk; too drunk to make out the quicksand-lies that every thrust launched me deeper into.
I lived for the moments that you would look at me with eyes burning with lust that I had mistaken for love.
I had hoped that my nail marks and heated kisses were enough to brand you as mine but I guess I was wrong.
You were never mine to begin with...yet I was all yours.
When you left, you left behind your scent on my skin, your laughter in the loops of my ears.
 I feel trapped in our memories and my futile dreams of a ‘happy ever after’ with you.
 I have a ‘welcome’ mat in front of my door… acting like I’m ready to welcome another when in actual fact, I’m just hiding the key under the mat hoping you’d stop by…
