New Love Dawning

- New Love Dawning -

I saw the stars come out tonight, as if for the first time,
And long for the coming of the dawn, with equal hope...
Years have passed since I dared let my dreams to climb,
The heights to which I send them now, and the scope...
The scope of the prayer that I have sent to the divine.
May I be blessed of just one angel, may I call her mine!
Starlight is for wishes, and the night birds' call is poetic,
The crickets chirp, and in their tune so many souls call...
Not the souls of crickets, but of lovers aflame, romantic,
With their passions ignited by what symphonies befall...
Blown on night-winds across the valley where I dwell,
Perhaps by the chimes of the local church's ringing bell!

The bell is cold, metal, and lifeless to my ever-living ears,
That: yearn for the voice of song, not vacant instruments.
I have waited so very long, mayhap a good seven years,
Before daring to dream, that I might know contentment.
Let the church bell play on, cold, in the darkness of night,
Whilst my prayers pierce the inky depths, bringing light!
I am not alone in the song I sing, and this I have learned,
For there is another who sings as I, and who has yearned.
Have I not wept rivers, until my eyes were red and dry...
Aflame with torments unknown to those beyond the sky?
Have I not been raised above the depths of true despair,
Though nigh unto the Abyss it took me, the Devil's lair?

And I have been saved, by graces both divine and mortal,
Who have opened within my heart an ever-shining portal!
Where ravens perched, now doves alight in their splendor,
Where briars grew, now roses bloom in a scarlet wonder!
Streams that ran dry, now flow with life through the land,
All with the hope, that one single angel will take my hand.
Where before my castle crumbled with mournful weight...
Now the towers soar, gleaming as the very spires of fate.
The land is healed, and by what grail I cannot yet speak,
For hope can be broken and still the land is so very weak.
And so my prayers shall continue, until the dawn arises...
And mayhap with it a new era filled with happy surprises!
