My Reflection

My reflection highlights tribulation
The hardships and agony within this nation
My pupils cogitate
About the penury, heartaches, and strife
They dilate
In recognition of the grieving man with the misfortunate life
The one with the late wife
The one in battle
Who watched his friends fall out in combat and die
To the one stuck in the wheelchair who once thought he could reach for the sky
To that one man with the broken dream
Who lost his hope
His token to the future he once seen
And can no longer scope
And that man who finally figured
Nothing's what it seems
That big baller
Who didn't get to play for his team
My reflection reflects the dejected woman with the upset soul
The one who lost her way and missed her goal
The one self-conflicted
The one held legally responsible and wrongfully convicted
The woman with the broken heart
Who had to make a decision that torn her apart
To the one longing for a new start but stumbling in need
And that woman who's deficient with a baby to feed
My reflection shows a vision in me
That I see
A world with a frangible reality
A strive and gallop to make ends meet
With equal effort yet no trace of equality
Like two notes with no harmony
Lives battered in silent deceit
That fails the common courtesy
Of a proper introductory
It sneaks up on you no preamble
But life's a gamble
My reflection highlights tribulation
