Rose Colored Glasses

She sees this old world though rose color glass,

For the life she knows is in the pass…

She speaks to voices, no one hears,

She makes a point, but not too clear…

She waits for a man who breaths no more,

A gallant lad who’s lost at war…

So she lies and she cries and says silly things,

And she sits for hours twisting her ring…

The one that he gave her on the day they wed,

And vowed he’d return to share her bed…

And pure as the day that God gave her life,

She kept her vow, our virgin wife….

She coddled and caressed her innocence,

Believing with the best intense…

That is a gift, that she should give,

To the man she loved, if he had lived…

But the love in her heart makes her sure,

He’ll be waiting there forever more…

To hold her like he never could,

And love her like he always should...

For love, is never really gone,

It follows us as we move on…….
